I am a Newcastle based graduate architect who has just completed her Master’s of Architecture at the University of Newcastle.
Having a mixed heritage background I have grown up experiencing different cultures, this has shaped my approach to design and instilled a strong sense of place and connection to the surrounding natural environment.
After completing a commerce degree in 2008 at the age of 20, I realised accounting was not for me and commenced a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Newcastle the following year. This ignited a passion for architecture, design and travel.
During my Bachelor I went on a Architecture tour of Greece and Italy with the university fuelling my my passion for architecture and the effects of culture, politics and place has on Architecture. During this time I also volunteered as a labourer for Egress Studio this was a invaluable experience working with builders on site everyday allowing me to better appreciate the built process.
During my gap year in 2012 I began working with a local architecture firm developing my skill and gaining experience in contract administration and drafting. In 2013 I commenced my Masters of Architecture on a part-time basis writing a dissertation on Le Corbusier and the importance of tactility in Architecture.
In 2015 I completed my Masters with the Ward 21 project which investigated ideas of death and decay in design, with a focus on how our societies fear of death has transcended into architecture.
